We are moving toward reaching our capital campaign goal with the commitment of 161 pledgers. We Need You to exercise more faith and experience more of God! If you have already pledged, please consider increasing your giving. If you cannot give more, we encourage you to be consistent and faithful in your giving. Remember God weighs our gifts in terms of sacrifice and faith, rather than size. For those who have not pledged, we need you to make a commitment to join us in this exercise of faith and experience of God. Join us as we respond to what God is calling us to do next. Won’t you pledge to sacrificially give something? In advance, thank you for joining us in our Leap of Faith campaign.

History

The Beginning
Antioch Missionary Baptist Church celebrates a very long history that covers over
120 years of service to the Kingdom of God in the city of Charlotte. Our church was started by a group of Christians holding prayer meetings from house to house during the years of 1885 and 1886. In 1886, twelve people came together in the home of Mr.  J.S. McVay and formed our church under the leadership of the Reverend Pickenpack.
Our Pastors
From 1886 - present, the church has had seven Pastors: Reverend Pickenpack, Rev. S. W. Waddell (40 years), Rev. John B Massey, Rev. G.W. Crosby, Rev. D.F. Moore (41 years), Rev. Preston Pendergrass (25 years), and currently Rev. Donnie R. Garris who accepted the call on January 26, 1997 and was installed July 13, 1997. Under Pastor Garris' leadership, there has been a great increase in the spiritual life, ministry, and membership of our church (currently over 980 members on roll).
Our Facilities
Our church had been housed under a Brush Arbor until we built our first building off of old Monroe Road. Later on, we built a second building on the same site in 1922 and stayed there until 1975.  We have been in our present building since 1975. In 1986, we added the P.C. Pendergrass multi-purpose building, which currently houses our administrative offices, kitchen area, and other facilities. Renovations were made to our sanctuary and multi-purpose building in 1999.
Our Religious Affiliations
The Lanes Creek Missionary Baptist Association, the General Baptist State Convention, the Lott Carey Convention, and the Progressive National Baptist Convention.
Our Civic and Community Affiliations
H.E.LP. (Helping Empower Local People), R.A.I.N. (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network), and the CCCBG (Central Carolinas Collective Banking Group). The church works with the Charlotte Police Department, the Chemical Dependency Center, Grier Heights Presbyterian Church and other local agencies in providing youth in the community with an after school and summer school programs; Back-to-School book bag Give-away; and in lieu of Halloween, a Hallelujah Community Festival.
