To our beloved new brothers and sisters in Christ:
I greet you in the name of the One who is and will always be the All- Sufficient Savior, Jesus Christ! It is my high delight to welcome you into the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family. I am glad that you have been led to join us.
When people come to join our church, we believe that in doing so they are saying, “The Holy Spirit led me to do this.” Through the witness of Christ in our worship and fellowship, we believe God moved by way of His Holy Spirit upon your heart and stirred you to rise from your seat to join us. Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” So to us it is no accident that you are here with us. We believe that you were led here for a purpose and with this belief we receive you with thanks to God. We also believe that you come with passions, experiences, talents, skills and gifts that God has placed in you to glorify Him and to strengthen our church. And so we receive you joyfully, openly and lovingly. And we welcome you to our church’s mission:
“Helping People Realize God’s Intent for Your Life”
In taking your membership with us seriously, I want you to realize two important things: (1) your coming to Christ and this church is just the start of something great. With time and growth, it will blossom into something beautiful, fruitful and wonderful. And (2) it is up to you to make this church what you want in a church. The church will be exciting and enjoyable when you find ways to become active in its ministry. Members like you and I working and participating together in the spirit of Christ make this church what we want in a church. All you’ll need here at Antioch is a little faith, much determination, a willing heart, a sense of humor and a desire to grow.
I look forward to serving you as your friend, brother and pastor. My door is open to you. Again, I welcome you into our family.
Grace and Peace,
Donnie R. Garris, Pastor
